A better fit for the right project

Careful assembly without the marketplace gamble.

You work directly with the person who reviews the item, confirms the scope and performs the assembly in your home.

Best suited for

One substantial furniture piece or several items completed during the same visit. That keeps the service useful for homeowners and allows enough time to do the work carefully.

A clear answer before scheduling

Send the product information and room photos first. I’ll review the complexity, access, lifting and anchoring needs, then confirm whether the project is a fit and provide a project-based price.

Furniture I can review

Residential pieces for the way you live and work.

Each model is reviewed before scheduling. The item’s size, design, condition, location and lifting requirements all matter.

01

Desks & office furniture

Residential desks, workstations and selected home-office storage.

02

Storage furniture

Bookshelves, freestanding cabinets, dressers and nightstands.

03

Tables & chairs

Dining or occasional tables and standard residential chairs.

04

Freestanding kitchen carts

Flat-pack prep carts and cabinet-style rolling pieces—not permanent islands.

05

Bed frames

Standard bed frames after the exact model and lifting plan are reviewed.

06

Media furniture

TV stands, media consoles and selected residential rolling TV carts.

07

Flat-pack furniture

Selected cabinet-style and household furniture that remains freestanding.

08

Multi-item visits

Several compatible pieces assembled during one scheduled appointment.

Retailer furniture is welcome after review. Selected IKEA, Wayfair, Amazon and other flat-pack products can be assembled. The Covedale Craftsman is an independent service and is not affiliated with those retailers.

Recent West Side project

A finished piece should feel complete in the room.

This freestanding flat-pack island arrived as a collection of panels, hardware and instructions. It left the work area as stable, useful furniture.

The build was completed in a West Side home. Components were organized, the manufacturer’s sequence was followed, the shelving and panels were aligned, fasteners were checked and the immediate area was gathered and cleaned.

This was furniture assembly—not permanent island installation. Built-in islands, attached cabinetry, countertop fitting and related kitchen construction are outside this service.

The assembly process

From first photos to ready to use.

Plain, careful steps keep the scope clear and prevent missing or damaged parts from being buried inside the finished piece.

01

Review the product and location

I look at the product link or model, item count, intended room, access and any lifting or anchoring concerns.

02

Confirm scope and price

You receive a project-based price and clear expectations before the appointment is scheduled.

03

Protect the work area

The floor and nearby surfaces are considered before boxes, panels and tools are laid out.

04

Inventory and organize

Panels, fasteners and hardware are identified and arranged so missing or damaged pieces are easier to catch.

05

Follow the intended sequence

The manufacturer’s instructions guide the build instead of forcing parts together or skipping structural steps.

06

Check alignment and stability

Fasteners, panels, shelves and the overall structure are checked and adjusted where the design allows.

07

Test moving parts

Drawers, doors, casters, brakes and adjustable components are operated when applicable.

08

Discuss anti-tip anchoring

Manufacturer-specified anchoring is discussed and reviewed around the supplied hardware and wall.

09

Document problems honestly

If an essential part is missing or damaged, I identify it instead of hiding the problem or improvising an unsafe repair.

10

Gather and clean up

Packaging is gathered and the immediate work area is left orderly, with off-site disposal handled only when separately agreed.

A carefully defined service

Standard, review-required and unavailable work.

A clear scope protects your home, the furniture and the quality of the finished result.

Standard projects may include

  • One substantial freestanding piece
  • Several items during one visit
  • Manufacturer-sequence assembly
  • Alignment and stability checks
  • Functional checks for moving parts
  • Gathering packaging and immediate cleanup

Available after review

  • Standard bed frames
  • Residential rolling TV carts
  • Manufacturer-specified anti-tip hardware
  • Furniture correction or reassembly
  • Unusually heavy or complex pieces
  • Boxes that must be moved within the home

Not currently offered

  • Cribs, bunk beds, loft beds or wall beds
  • Large PAX-style wardrobes or closet systems
  • Permanent kitchen islands or built-in cabinetry
  • Commercial office systems and cubicles
  • Pool tables, playsets, sheds or large fitness equipment
  • Oversized glass or stone furniture
  • Delivery, moving or unsafe solo lifting

Condition matters. Previously damaged or badly misassembled particleboard furniture—and items missing essential instructions, hardware or structural components—may not be safe or practical to complete.

The Covedale Craftsman standard

Assembled isn’t the same as finished.

A piece is ready when it is stable, aligned and operating as intended within the manufacturer’s design—not merely standing upright.

Everything Working Before I Leave™Because the job isn’t done until everything works the way you expected.
  • Major fasteners checked
  • Panels and shelves aligned
  • Overall stability reviewed
  • Drawers and doors operated
  • Casters and brakes tested
  • Adjustable parts checked
  • Anti-tip needs discussed
  • Damage or missing parts documented
  • Immediate area cleaned
  • Finished piece reviewed with you

No hidden problems

If the box has a problem, you deserve to know.

Flat-pack furniture can arrive with missing hardware, incorrect panels, shipping damage or holes weakened by an earlier assembly attempt.

Missing or damaged parts

I’ll stop at the appropriate point, show you what I found and document the issue so you can contact the retailer or manufacturer. I won’t conceal the problem inside the piece.

Previously misassembled furniture

Correction work can be reviewed, but damaged fastener holes or particleboard may limit what can be made safe. An honest “this should be replaced” is better than a temporary repair presented as finished.

Work directly with Christopher

The person who reviews the project is the person who shows up.

No anonymous marketplace assignment, rushed handoff or mystery about who is entering your home.

I built The Covedale Craftsman around calm communication, careful work and complete final checks. My 13 years in the Ohio Army National Guard as an aircraft electrician and avionics technician shaped the habits I bring to each accepted project: organize the work, follow the sequence, notice problems and verify the result.

Frequently asked questions

What homeowners usually want to know.

Furniture varies widely. Product information and room photos make it possible to give you a useful answer before scheduling.

What types of furniture do you assemble?

Selected residential pieces include desks, bookshelves, freestanding storage, dressers, nightstands, tables, standard chairs, TV stands, media consoles, freestanding kitchen carts and standard bed frames after model review. Permanent kitchen islands and built-in cabinetry are not offered.

Do you assemble IKEA, Wayfair and Amazon furniture?

Yes, selected flat-pack furniture from IKEA, Wayfair, Amazon and other retailers can be reviewed by product link, brand or model. The Covedale Craftsman is an independent service and is not affiliated with those retailers.

Can you assemble several pieces during one visit?

Yes. Furniture assembly is best suited for one substantial piece or several items completed during the same visit. Send every product link and the item count so the complete scope can be priced first.

Do you anchor dressers and bookshelves to the wall?

Manufacturer-specified anti-tip anchoring may be available after reviewing the furniture, supplied hardware, wall construction and intended location. Not every furniture-and-wall combination can be accepted.

What happens if parts are missing or damaged?

I’ll identify and document the issue, show you what I found and discuss the next step. I won’t hide the problem or improvise an unsafe repair simply to call the item complete.

Do the boxes need to be in the intended room?

Ideally, unopened boxes should be in or near the intended room. If that is not practical, tell me where they are, whether stairs are involved and whether there are lifting or access concerns.

Will you clean up and take the furniture packaging with you?

I gather the boxes, plastic and packing material and leave the immediate work area clean. Taking the packaging away from your home is not included unless we agree to it before the appointment.

What should I send for a quote?

Send the product link, brand or model, number of items, photos of the boxes or furniture, a photo of the intended location, and any known lifting, access or anchoring concerns.

Do you repair furniture that was assembled incorrectly?

Some correction work can be reviewed. Acceptance depends on the item’s condition and whether panels, fastener holes or structural parts have already been damaged. Badly damaged particleboard may not be safely repairable.

Which Cincinnati neighborhoods do you serve?

I primarily serve Cincinnati’s West Side and nearby communities when the project is a fit. Text your address or ZIP code if you are unsure.
